Congratulations to our very own Dr. Fuschetti for being named the GA DNR 2020-21 Conservation Teacher of the Year Grant Winner!
As a third grade STEAM teacher, Dr. Fuschetti will receive $1000 from TERN (DNR Wildlife Conservation Friends Group) to implement her “Learning in the Lab of Life” project this school year! Per her grant proposal, third-grade students at Banks County Elementary will create a garden for wildlife that will serve as an outdoor classroom for the entire school. After learning about habitat requirements, the third-graders will collaboratively investigate which wildlife currently use the site. Data from winter months will be compared to findings in the spring. Based on their research and observations, students will determine ways to improve the habitat. Native plants and grasses as well as birdhouses and feeders will likely be added. We are so very proud of you and all you do for our students at Banks County Elementary School!
