Mr. Fuller, Banks County digital learning specialist, created fun and engaging center rotations for fourth grade students to observe and explore sound concepts, including pitch, amplitude, and the frequency of sound waves. The students made observations at each center and then discussed what they discovered after conducting each sound experiment.

BCES Breakfast with a HERO was a great success! We were visited by 15 of our local HERO's representing the Banks County Sheriff's office, Fire Department, and EMS, and we served 368 breakfasts this morning. Thanks to everyone for making this happen!!! Gabriel Ramirez, in Mrs. Chitwood & Mrs. Evans' homeroom, is the Bus Rider of the Month for February! He won some awesome prizes for being a great example to others on the bus. His bus driver, Mr. Todd Vanzo, won a gift card to Applebee's! These students were the overall Leopard Buck Winners for the month of February! Leopard bucks are given out by faculty members to students who go above and beyond the behavioral expectations at BCES. Our behavior motto is, "All day every day, remember, a Leopard always ROARS!" This means that our students are Respectful, show Ownership for their actions, have a positive Attitude, are Responsible, and are Safe. Congratulations to Addy Daniel, Alivia Bernier, and Gregory Ping for being a positive example for others at school! Through the Skype a Scientist Program, Ms. Blackmon and Mrs. Loggins' classes were matched with Elizabeth King, a geologist from Boston. She discussed her profession and her experiences with studying the Earth and its different systems. This was a great way to wrap up their unit over Constructive and Deconstructive Forces. The students were able to ask her questions and really enjoyed hearing about her experiences. She shared with them about traveling to Hawaii to study the soil and rocks, and how she saw a volcano. What a great experience for our 5th grade students! Dr. Fuschetti’s class visited the Capitol Building in Atlanta last week. The students had the opportunity to meet with Senator John Wilkinson, who implemented the Elementary Ag Pilot program for K-5 students and sat in on the Senate floor as voting was taking place. They also had the opportunity to tour the exhibits on the museum floor. Students shared that some of their favorite parts of the visit were meeting the Senator, seeing the glass floor, seeing the two headed cow exhibit, and hearing the bang of the gavel during the voting session. It was a trip and experience that will be remembered. FOX 5 meteorologist, Ryan Beasley visited fourth grade students at BCES this week as a culminating activity to their weather unit in science. Mr. Beasley spoke to students about the importance of hard work and perseverance and to follow your dreams. He also shared, "a day in the life of a meteorologist" and his various experiences as a storm chaser. He even brought the FOX 5 Storm Chaser vehicle for students to view. It was a fun and exciting day! |
