Noah Garner in Mrs. Pruitt's homeroom is the Bus Rider of the Month for January! He won a football and a free meal at Cracker Barrel for being a great example to others on the bus. His bus driver, Linda Hudson, won a free meal for two at Cracker Barrel! Congratulations!!!

The Banks County School System held the District Spelling Bee this morning at Banks County Middle School. Participants included Jessie Gee (4th Grade), Robert Walker (5th Grade), Jesse Jarrett (6th Grade), Amber Morris (7th Grade), and Devin Watkins (8th Grade). Congratulations to Amber Morris for winning first place in the BCSS District Spelling Bee. Amber is the daughter of one of our 3rd grade teachers, Mrs. Jennifer Morris! Also, we would like to congratulate Robert Walker for being the BCSS District Spelling Bee runner up! BCES is very proud of both Robert and Jessie for representing us very well! On Feb. 6th at 6:00 pm, Banks County Middle School will be hosting a special agent from the Georgia Bureau of Investigations to present a cyber safety training for parents. Topics that will be covered include: online predators, popular applications used by students, and the dangers of texting and cyber bullying. If you would like to learn more about how to protect your children, please come out and participate in this free training!
The school-wide spelling bee was held on December 16, 2016. Our 5th grade winner was Robert Walker from Mrs. Wilson's homeroom. The 5th grade runner up was Christian Williams who is in Mrs. Goodwin and Mr. Hart's homeroom. The 4th grade winner was Jessie Gee from Mrs. Williams's homeroom. The 4th grade runner up was Avery Hogue who is in Mrs. Gilreath and Mrs. Askew's homeroom.
Below is a bio from our two grade level winners: Robert Walker is our 5th grade winner. Robert is 11 years old and in the 5th grade. He has a twin sister named Zuleydi, a little sister named Isabelle, and two dogs named Page and Biscuit. He lives with his parents, Johnnie and Zully Walker. In his spare time he enjoys playing Madden 15 on the PS3 with his friend Tommy. Jessie Gee is our 4th grade winner. Jessie is 10 years old and in the 4th grade. He has a sister named Alexis who is in the 6th grade at BCMS and a dog named Cocoa. He lives with his parents, Jessie and Latasha Gee. Jessie enjoys playing basketball and football outdoors. Robert and Jessie will compete in our system spelling bee on January 31, 2017. The winner of the system bee will move on to compete at the district level. Congratulations to all of our winners! Paycee Jackson, a 5th grader at Banks County Elementary School, was featured in a commercial sponsored by GA Farm Bureau and GA Farm Monitor. We are proud of you Paycee! BCES Night at the Leopard Basketball Game will be held on January 14, 2017 beginning at 4:00 p.m. Our Music Makers will be performing the National Anthem before the girls varsity game. BCES students and staff will be recognized during the games. Students will get into the game for free, but they must be accompanied by an adult. Come out to support our Banks County Leopards on Saturday, January 14!
